SACKit RETROit Bean Bag Chair Light Grey TRAYit + Drum.jpg

SACKit, as their brand name would infer, were originally a company that designed luxury beanbag/sack styled seating before they diversified into stylish audio products, which is how we became familiar with them. So, after all this time, we are finally taking a look at one of their seating products here at the studio, with the SACKit RETROit Beanbag Lounge Chair, accompanied by a drum/pouffe with the new TRAYit tabletop accessory.

Made in style

As you’d expect from a Scandinavian brand, the colour options and styles offered are generally natural in tone and feel. Dark to light shades can be considered on their website, and we landed somewhere in the middle with the light grey. The aesthetics of our choice beautifully suit the studio setting where they reside, laying upon pine flooring and surrounded by white granite walls. The nature of the setting requires the SACKit chair to change location often; a relatively easy task thanks to the lightweight and integrated rope-style carry handle. Also worth noting is that any chair with a hard base or legs, would have resulted in our pine floor mimicking Swiss cheese with all the indentations they would create. So something like this SACKit chair is absolutely perfect for fellow pine floor residents.

The chair arrives pre-filled with non-toxic EPS beads, so there’s only one large box to contend with and no manual bead filling has to be undertaken, thank goodness! Once set-up in place, you begin to realise that this isn’t a typical beanbag chair. It’s a serious piece of furniture with true hallmarks of quality, such as hand-sewn stitching and an exemplary material made from 100% synthetic Olefin, enabling the SACKit RETROit chair, and in our case the drum/pouffe, to be used outdoors on our decking area or lawn. The anxiety removed from not needing to worry about the spontaneous British showers, as both pieces are completely waterproof, cannot be understated!

Is it comfy?

When the chair first arrived it was strangely muscular in its structure and when sat on it was similarly dense. However, after a few days of sitting and lying around on the SACKit RETROit Beanbag Chair, it greatly softened, and has remained perfect to sit on six months down the line. It’s great for playing guitar on as there are no arms, and due to its width our cat really enjoys frequently inhabiting one side of the chair whilst someone else works away on a notebook or tablet on the other. For prolonged usage like this, it’s an absolutely fantastic work from home solution that gives your body relief with the variety of positions it allows you to sit in. So, regardless of how you sit - side, long, hook or cross leg - it just doesn’t matter, as this is a piece of furniture that isn’t going to restrict body movement. By design it gently morphs into each sitting scenario and, if you are lounged out, the pouffe makes a perfect leg rest. It helps to relieve and lessen existing backache, and from personal feedback it’s true to say we’ve all found it supportive but really generous in its posture, earning the status as the go-to chair at the studio. We just look forward to being able to utilise it more outdoors when the sun comes out again.

Verdict

We’re so pleased to have finally tried out the SACKit RETROit Beanbag Chair and drum/pouffe with the TRAYit oak tabletop. We actually searched high and low on the internet for a beanbag chair last year and we definitely don’t think there’s anything better now we’ve tried the SACKit flavour. It’s an uncomplicated Scandinavian style that looks refined and tasteful, but is also a really versatile piece of furniture for indoors, and even outdoors with its waterproof credentials. Our entire SACKit setup here is an ideal solution for causal comfort, whether relaxing whilst playing the guitar, or being productive on your notebook or tablet for hours throughout a working day.
